Based in Los Angeles, CA, Franklin has a Science Honours degree from University College, London and a Chartered Management Accounting qualification from CIMA, UK. He had senior financial and management roles at Hewlett-Packard and Andersen's Business Consulting division before pursuing an innovation consulting career with an emphasis on web-based software platforms for managing and publishing distributed information.

This has led Franklin to be instrumental in launching several successful information-based companies including a Digital Mapping and Photogrammetry company serving mining companies such as Anglo American Coal, PDVSA and Drummond , an online information platform for the largest US Facility Management Trade Shows, http://www.nfmt.com/ and their parent company ROC Exhibitions in Chicago, a fast growing SaaS publishing company, Mequano, https://www.mequano.com/ and a recently launched software/hardware communication system for the rapidly growing 65+ demographic, https://www.callgrampma.com. Franklin has also worked as innovation consultant, currently developing a portfolio of disruptive essential products for bathroom and home for Target Corp.

Franklin is fluent in three languages and spends way too much time with his wife and three children.

Hailing from Scotland, David studied Naval Architecture at the University of London before earning a First Class Honors in Product Design Engineering from Glasgow University. Throughout his career David has fused product design practice, entrepreneurship, and education. He started designing tools for a Japanese tool manufacture, generated numerous patents while at IDEO and in 1996 founded Speck Design, one of Silicon Valley’s leading design firms. Speck is a consultancy which partners with clients to create innovative designs that integrate complex engineering with timeless design. He then co-founded Speck Products, one of the leading tech. case companies in the world. David has created numerous multi-million $ companies and that have been acquired by world renowned brands.

In addition to creating brands David has been involved teaching design and innovation for the last 15 years. He has lectured at California College of Arts, Stanford University, Edinburgh University and the University of Washington.
